Saturday, July 14, Sony Pictures has promoted action SF "After Earth" at Comic-Con Convention in San Diego, but Indian director M. Night Shyamalan and actors Will Smith and Jaden Smith were not present at the event answering the questions of journalists and fans.Producers decided to make their blockbuster through backstage footage, including a clip where M. Night Shyamalan explains how to approach the script by Stephen Gaghan and Gary Whittle as "After Earth" is a documentary about future of the planet Earth, but also through a video highlighting alternative history that use film.
According to The Playlist, the story begins more than a century ago, in 1908, when an alien spaceship crashed on Earth, continues with events today and venturing into the future, in the year 2066, suggesting that people will and then use social network Facebook to learn new information or to become familiar with what happened in the past.
After an apocalyptic cataclysm, mankind was forced to flee and take refuge on Earth planet Nova Prime, General Raige Cypher (Will Smith) returning home after a long mission that kept him away from his family and striving to connect with Kitai (Jaden Smith) and his son aged 13 years.
"After Earth" cast include Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoë Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo and will be released in cinemas in the U.S. on June 7, 2013.

According to HollywoodNews.com, double Oscar nominee Will Smith (42 years) will give a helping hand both to strengthen the career of his son 12 years old Jaden Smith to restart the career and Indian director M. Night Shyamalan, who become successful in 1999 when he released thriller "The Sixth Sense", but covered in shame in 2010, when the family - adventure "The Last Airbender" has generated a wave of negative reviews and has won four undesirable Razzie awards, although recorded revenues approximate of $ 319 million in international box-office.

Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures Studio, made some comments on this official announcement, expressing his delight to work with two of the components of the Smith clan and with M. Night Shyamalan who was nominated for an Oscar in 2000 in the categories Best Director and the Best Original Screenplay for the film "The Sixth Sense":
"Night is a remarkable filmmaker, who has an extraordinary vision of this science fiction story, and we could not be happier to be working again with Jaden Smith after previous experiences with The Pursuit of Happyness and The Karate Kid. We are happy to have him and the two Smith together in this project ."
Scenario shall bear the signatures of M. Night Shyamalan and Gary Whittle ("The Book of Eli") and will follow a boy (Jaden Smith) who, with his father (Will Smith) are walking on a deserted and frightening Earth, in order to survive after their space ship crashed on this abandoned planet, the film is placed in a distant future, 1,000 years away from the present moment.

Night Shyamalan told that the opportunity to make a scary science fiction film in which will play Jaden and Will is his dream project, the previous collaboration of Will Smith with Jaden Smith is dating from 2006, when father and son shared the screen biographical drama "The Pursuit of Happyness".
It seems that One Thousand A.E. is no longer the official title of this movie. As we know M. Night Shyamalan has officially joined Twitter and one of his first information shared is that After Earth will be the official title of One Thousand A.E. (probably not a good idea to have a title that reminds anyone of "Titan A.E.")and as we know this movie have already a release date set for 7 June 2013.
